In this powerful memoir, local author Bernardo Szwarcbart tells the true story of his father’s miraculous escape from Nazi-occupied Belgium to Brazil during WWII. Based on research, his father’s memories, and some creative license, it’s a testament to hope and resilience in the darkest of times, urging us to fight against rising anti-semitism and ensure such tragedies never happen again.
The book is available for purchase in advance of the lecture at Dorrance Publishing, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble. A limited number of books will also be available for purchase at the event.

About the Author:Bernardo Szwarcbart, instilled with a love for reading and writing by his parents, channeled this passion not only into his career as an HR professional, where he wrote articles for magazines and maintained a blog, but also into a personal mission. Over the years, he became deeply moved by the stories of Holocaust survivors, his own father included. As the generation of these survivors dwindles, Bernardo feels a strong responsibility to keep their experiences alive. He believes that by sharing their stories, we can ensure the horrors of the Holocaust are never forgotten, nor ever repeated.Bernardo loves reading, hiking, music of all genres, and, of course, writing. He is married with one son, and lives near Atlanta, Georgia.
